Flying Spaghetti Monster Holiday

The Flying Spaghetti Monster (often abbreviated online as “FSM”) was created to protest a ruling by the Kansas Board of Education that so-called Intelligent Design must be taught in addition to evolution. 

Bobby Henderson, a Kansas parent, created the Flying Spaghetti Monster as a satire of God and Intelligent Design, arguing that you cannot prove that Flying Spaghetti Monster doesn’t exist.  Flying Spaghetti Monster is every bit as believable as God, and is no easier to disprove.

Flying Spaghetti Monster rules over a religion called Pastafarianism, which considers pirates to be sacred beings, and holds that Heaven includes a beer volcano.  According to Pastafarianism, Flying Spaghetti Monster planted all evidence of evolution after a bad night of drinking.  If you disagree, it is up to you to prove otherwise.

December is a holy month for Pastafarians, who celebrate the entire month as a vague holiday known simply as “Holiday.”  The increasing presence of “Happy Holidays” and “Holiday Greetings” is seen by Pastafarians as a nod to Flying Spaghetti Monster’s annual holiday. 

Flying Spaghetti Monster is often honored with crafts, which are officially recognized by Pastafarianism as a holy tenet.  Many patterns exist for miniature Flying Spaghetti Monster holiday ornaments, including Flying Spaghetti Monster knitting patterns, Flying Spaghetti Monster crochet patterns, Flying Spaghetti Monster felting patterns, and more.
